While the radiation from a NURA scan is exceptionally low and adds very little to your total exposure, general radiological guidelines suggest a gap of at least 6 months between elective screening CTs if you recently had a high-dose diagnostic CT scan for the same body area (such as the chest or abdomen).
However, there are exceptions:
- Different Body Parts: If your recent CT was for an unrelated area (such as a CT of the head, neck, or a limb), you do not necessarily need to wait.
- Always Consult the Team: Always inform the NURA medical team about any recent scans, X-rays, or radiation therapy. The doctor will evaluate your cumulative exposure and advise whether your screening should proceed or be temporarily postponed.
